
Dandan L. Powell
Dr. Dandan L. Powell has a doctoral degree majoring in piano performance with a secondary emphasis in music theory at the University of Northern Colorado. She is a piano instructor at Colorado Christian University and taught piano at Aims Community College and the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado. She also served as assistant director and taught piano lessons at the Colorado International Piano Academy for three years. Dandan has 13 years of experience teaching piano at all levels and to all ages of students. Some of her students have won national and international competitions such as the Walt Disney 90th Anniversary Piano Competition (2014), the Greeley Youth Piano Competition (2019), and the Zhongxin International Piano competition and Festival in Singapore (c.a. 2016).
Dandan Powell is an accomplished concert pianist, having performed in the United States, Europe and Asia. She performed with the Italy Perugia Orchestra as well as with local operas in Schloss Heusenstamm, Kurhaus, and Bad Schwalbach in Germany. She was awarded a second-place prize at the Music Teacher National Association competition in Colorado (2015), a second-place prize at the Italy Imola Piano Competition, and Excellent Teacher award at the Walt Disney 90th Anniversary of Piano Competition.
Dandan assisted in coordinating the first Greeley Youth Piano Competition in Colorado. She served as a judge in the Greeley Youth Piano Competition and the Greeley Piano Competition in 2017 and 2018. She has been an officer at MTNA (Music Teacher National Associate) for three years. She has accompanied the symphonic band, choir, and orchestra at University of Northern Colorado, along with some local orchestras in the state.
